Charlton Heston, the Oscar-winning actor who achieved stardom playing larger-than-life figures including Moses, Ben Hur, Michelangelo and Andrew Jackson in historical epics and went on to become a best-selling author, and an unapologetic gun advocate, has died today. He was 83.
Heston was not shy about his convictions and he didn’t mind stepping on toes…
Political correctness is tyranny with manners.
In 2002, he announced that he had Alzheimer’s disease. He faced his illness with perspective and humor. ”The world is a tough place,” he said with a chuckle. “You’re never going to get out of it alive.”
He will be missed.
