Sorry you had a disappointing (though good) experience. We went to the festival in 2009, and the bluebonnets (and Indian paintbrush) were abundant and stunningly gorgeous. We're planning to go again this year. But thanks to your post we'll keep our expectations in check.

I'm sure that they were, they were gorgeous in the Arlington area - the big problem was that the website gave false (misleading) information on the status of the Bluebonnets. If we had had better info, we could have held off our trip by a week or two and would have had a much better experience.

I went to Ennis to see the bluebonnets in 2007 & they were gorgeous! Field after field covered in bluebonnets! I've never seen anything like that before! I missed last year & I haven't been yet this year. Maybe it has something to do with the weather. Who knows?

I live near a town where there is an "Azalea Trail" every spring. Sometimes the azaleas aren't even blooming during the festival & sometimes they have bloomed early & are already starting to die.

So, try again next year! Maybe you'll get to see a beautiful sight that you'll never forget!
