We went to the festival in 2009, and the bluebonnets (and Indian paintbrush) were abundant and stunningly gorgeous. We're planning to go again this year. If we had had better info, we could have held off our trip by a week or two and would have had a much better experience. Field after field covered in bluebonnets! I've never seen anything like that before! I missed last year & I haven't been yet this year. Maybe it has something to do with the weather. Who knows? I live near a town where there is an "Azalea Trail" every spring. Sometimes the azaleas aren't even blooming during the festival & sometimes they have bloomed early & are already starting to die.
