Over the weekend, something exciting happened… well, at least it was exciting for me. Apple opened it’s first ‘official’ Apple Store in China. (Beijing of course.)
The two-level store store opened July 19th in Beijing’s Sanlitun entertainment district at 10 a.m., Apple’s 219th worldwide.
“This is the first of many stores we will open in China,” said Ron Johnson, Apple’s senior vice president of retail, in remarks at the store. He later added that Apple will open stores “in Beijing, in Shanghai and beyond,” and confirmed that another store will open in Beijing’s Qianmen area, a shopping street south of Tiananmen Square that has been renovated ahead of the Olympic Games, which begin next month.
The store will offer Genius Bar services in Chinese and English, said John Ford, the store’s manager, with support in some other languages available, including German.

Hi! I'm Steve Webel and this is my blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Steve – that is really exciting – An Apple store in China – wow – I remember when we were in the Apple store in Tampa buying this computer and you were on one of the computers at the store helping us make the right decision. A customer came along and needed help and the sales man was busy helping someone else so you talk to him and helped him buy a computer. Maybe you can see if Apple can use you from home – get connected to the Beijing store and help the customers as they come in -
Were you instrumental getting this store in Beijing? Ha – but I wouldn’t put it past you. Maybe a store near you will be coming in the near future. Let’s hope – aye?
I forgot to mention that when you were helping us at the Tampa store – you were actually in China at home on your computer. The computer in the store that you were on was the one the customer actually bought – after you answered all his questions – He was impressed that he was talking to someone from China – I still think you should have got a commission from that sale HA
No mom, I don’t have THAT much pull!
