Ohh… without your comment on my blog, I would not have figured this out. I hope I didn’t give the impression of blaming China. This is a heart problem caused by evil men, the fact that they may be Chinese is just unfortunate for China’s image.

You are correct though, I haven’t seen one reference to New Zealand in any of the reports.

Is breastfeeding unacceptable in Chinese culture? Or is it because of the way families leave children in the care of grandparents while mom goes off to work?

It’s the later - too many parents are giving up the joy and privilege of raising their children. I suspect it’s not exclusively a Chinese trend, but the fact that the culture supports the role of the grandparents in raising kids, to the point of making moms who do this seem strange, does not help things.

Yeah, my title and content were not very descriptive… I guess I felt the need to post without adding too much ‘noise’ to the hysteria already all over the web.

We are still learning new things about the extent of this melanine problem… it’s much, much broader than we thought even a day or two ago… It turns out that the “Yili” brand of milk that our kids drink has been tested positive for malanine!

Ultimately we know that God is in control and He is the protector of our children, but it’s still scary.

To give you some comfort - at least you were in America for 9 months and only just returned recently - so your children were not exposed to that milk for a long period of time - Aye? Maybe the damage is an accumulation of this chemical in the body? Anyhow - Can we start sending you powdered milk from America. We will be glad to do it for our sweet grandbabies.

Hi, I can bring you some powdered milk from Italy. What kind do you want me to get? Any particular brand I can look for? They are very big here are organic. Let me know. Love you all!

No thanks, we’ll be fine. I think now that this has come ‘out’, the milk companies will be under a lot of scrutiny.
