It’s been a couple of days, so I wanted to write and update you on what is happening with Luke and Erica.
Erica was discharged from the hospital yesterday. After spending 39 days in the hospital (most of that pre-birth) she was very ready to return home! The family was also very excited to finally have Mom back home! Erica’s surgery was extensive, but it went about as smoothly as it possibly could. However, Erica has a longer road to recovery than normal.
Luke is doing well in the NICU, where his main challenge is to learn how to eat and get all of his nutrition from mom or from a bottle, not needing anything from his feeding tube. His breathing has slowed for the most part, but the doctor says that he could still have periods of rapid breathing for awhile. He also needs to be able to regulate his body temperature without the help of the warmer – he has been doing this on his own for the most part, however last night his temp dropped and he needed to have the warmer for a little while.
It was very emotional for us to leave the hospital yesterday – leaving Luke behind in the NICU. We know he is being taken care of, but it just seems strange to go home without him. Until he is released, Erica and I will be making daily trips to the hospital so that Erica can feed him and hold him – things that he needs most from Erica.
Thank you to everyone who has taken interest in all of our ‘drama’ over the past several months and have been lifting us up in your prayers! Please continue to pray for Luke’s growth and strength and Erica’s recovery and emotional wellbeing!

Thank you for sharing the update. We will continue to pray. We are so glad Erica is home, but pray it won’t be too much longer for Luke to be home too. We love you all very much (sorry it didn’t work out for us to come visit). We will have to make it work on the other side of the world either in HK or somewhere
