Progress

Today is day three for little Luke Webel, and it has been a day for little steps being taken in the right direction for both him and for Erica.
Erica has been moved from her OB recovery room to a new room that is back in the same part of the hospital where she spent the past 5 weeks, with all the nurses she has come to know and love. She is still pretty sore from the surgery, but has been able to get out of bed and move around, which should speed up her recovery long-term.

Luke has been taken off the respirator and is breathing pretty good on his own. He is still breathing fast, but the hope is that he’ll slow that down more and more as he matures. Erica was able to hold Luke this morning for the first time since Tuesday and was even able to feed him a little this afternoon! He still has a feeding tube, which he’ll still need until he can figure out eating, but hopefully that will come quickly. His IV was also taken out and he has maintained his glucose levels with no problems.
