Macintosh users are more likely to buy (rather than steal) digital music

New research from the NPD Group finds that 50 percent of Mac users pay to download music, compared to just 16 percent of PC users.

New market research figures from the NPD Group may highlight some of the gap between users of Apple’s Macintosh computers and…well, users of those other systems. According to the NPD Group’s Digital Music Monitor, Macintosh users are considerably more likely to pay to download music, with 50 percent of all Mac users surveyed paying to download music during the third quarter of 2007 compared to just 16 percent of PC users.

Facebook is coming to China, maybe

Facebook LogoFounded in 2004 by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook has nearly 50 million users and registers 250,000 new users a day, 60 percent of whom come from outside the United States. It seems now that Facebook has targeted the world’s second-largest Internet market, registering a local Web address in China.

Facebook.cn is registered by United States-based Facebook, according to search results on Wednesday on the Web site of government-backed “China Internet Network Information Center.” The “.cn” suffix is commonly used for Chinese domain names.

Something to note, the domain name facebook.com.cn has been registered to an individual working at a local Internet service provider, but for now, the web address redirects back to Facebook’s home page.

My facebook profile is online for any of you who know me, but have not added me to your list of contacts yet - just search for “Steve Webel.”
